This is what jet lag does:

It isn't even light out yet and we are ALL up. I mean really up. Breakfasted or in the process of, playing with toys, working on balsa wood projects, happy and fully awake.

It's a nice picture but certainly not normal for our family.

Hannah emerged from her room and said something to the effect of, "wow!" Hannah usually wakes around 5am.

Looks like our flight is 5 hours delayed. Oh joy.

Meanwhile we're trying to cram one more piece of (weightless) clothing into the suitcase. Getting dishes done, stripping the beds, Oh Mom! I found a sock! Here's a suction arrow for my new bow!

15 minutes to pick up.

thoughts

I was just reading another's blog about their new year's thoughts. It has reminded me of my thoughts this morning that I didn't journal. I like to record these thoughts but this feels like a too open place to do it; I will abbreviate.

The idea started a few days ago as I was slipping into sleep. I had been reading in Ezra the way God brought to pass the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. It took years! I'm sure that in those years there was much discouragement. They had started out so enthusiastically and then the king put a stop to it all. It wasn't until the next king that they were able to complete the project and then it was with the king's blessing and at his expense. Years later. My thought as I fell asleep was that "he who began a good work in you is faithful to carry it on to completion."

This morning's stage of the idea had to do with the steps I am taking in my life to build in the time and work needed to carry out the ideas I have for betterment of myself. This, of necessity, includes the time I spend with God--often rather haphazard. I would rather it be daily.

So there you go. Imagine the scene at 8am. We had a busy wedding weekend with late nights and lots of English driving. So at 8am nobody was awake and I was able to make and drink my coffee with no interruptions, gaze out the window at the blowy but mild weather, enjoy the birds, and just muse. Hm....
