The answer was almost yes. But the time for a decision was short and a strong nay was possible from a significant person. So we said no. The opportunity passed. And when the significant person arrived...his answer was yes.
We quick tried the phone, but the calls went unanswered. Deep tears welled up, a chin quivered and the arrow of disappointment entered my heart as well.
Why didn't I just say yes?

Ohhhhh dear! :(
It can be so hard to say yes when we know we should say no but when the yes could be so possible... Sor sorry for the tears and arrows, but sooooo looking fwd to the long trip I get to have SOON with FIVE special people!!!!!
For fear of sounding trite, "All things work together for good".
Love you all so much,
Salsa
And for more "trite": tearful one had a cry, I had a nap. We carried on and are fine.
Counting down the days to a trip with lots of Salsa and Cilantro!
Did I miss that call? I would have turned back. . . .
You know what? I think "no" was the right answer - and let me tell you why.
Can you imagine what a hole would have been left in the complete five-some of cousins travelling together next week? This will be an experience the children will remember for a long time - and what fun we'll have when you all arrive together. G'bob
Your phone was off...we tried again and again.
But. The travelling together: well, I think you're right. It'll be a not-often repeated experience and just right at this time in their lives.
I am frankly jealous even if our plans are also wonderful!
